Dangerous Goods Driver Training

Are you considering a role transporting dangerous goods? Passing an ADR course to obtain a driverโ€™s ADR card is legally required and ensures you have the knowledge and skills to do so safely and compliantly. You can unlock new driving opportunities and enhance your career prospects by gaining an ADR qualification, either online or in the classroom with Traxion Training!

We offer two main ADR training course options, depending on whether you plan to transport Dangerous Goods in packages or tanks:

ADR Packages

  1. ADR Core & Packages

    • Duration: 3 days + a half-day exam
    • This ADR Core & Packages course qualifies drivers to transport Dangerous Goods that are packaged in anything other than tanks.
    • Upon successful completion, you will receive an ADR certificate that allows you to carry hazardous materials in packages.

ADR Tanks

  1. ADR Core, Packages & Tanks

    • Duration: 1 additional day
    • If you wish to transport Dangerous Goods in tanks, this module is required. It provides the necessary training for carrying hazardous materials in tanks, in addition to the Core & Packages qualification.

Course Content

All courses begin with the core element. Here you will learn about some of the main provisions of ADR, such as how goods need to be packaged and labelled, vehicle marking, equipment to be carried, tunnel restrictions etc. You will also cover some basic first aid and firefighting. The course then goes on to cover the various classes of dangerous goods;

classes of dangerous goods

All of our ADR courses cover the 7 main classes of Dangerous Goods;

  • Class 2 โ€“ Gases
  • Class 3 โ€“ Flammable Liquids
  • Class 4 โ€“ Flammable Solids, Spontaneously Combustible, Dangerous When Wet
  • Class 5 โ€“ Oxidising Agents & Organic Peroxides
  • Class 6 โ€“ Toxic & Infectious Substances
  • Class 8 โ€“ Corrosive Substances
  • Class 9 โ€“ Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods

Exams

Unlike attendance-only CPC courses, which you may be familiar with, ADR courses require a little more effort as they are pass or fail, and Drivers must pass a series of multi-choice exam papers at the end of the course.

Traxion specialises in striving for the highest possible pass rates and our highly capable instructors will strive for a first-time pass for everyone. You do need to engage in the training and you can expect to be questioned and asked to participate throughout.

You can check out the Government guidance on acquiring your ADR card here.

Classroom ADR Course

We strongly recommend our classroom ADR training, especially if this is your first time sitting the course.

The hands-on nature of these courses makes them generally more engaging and enjoyable, and we spare no expense when it comes to the practical elements of the course;

First Aid Training โ€“ The emergency first aid element of all of our classroom courses includes live training under the guidance of a certified first aid instructor, with the use of  CPR dummies and practice AEDs.

CPR training

Fire Extinguisher Training โ€“ All of our classroom courses include live fire training, ensuring that you can demonstrate extinguishing a real fire and use an extinguisher safely and effectively.

Online ADR Course

For those on a budget, you can now attend ADR courses remotely over Zoom from the comfort of your home or the office.

You will attend live training sessions in the same format and structure as a classroom course, only over video call software instead of in person.

The practical elements of the course are substituted with question-and-answer sessions.

You still need to attend your exams in person on the final day! We have exam centres in Lancashire, Cambridgeshire and the East Midlands. We run the exams in the afternoon of the final day for those who need to travel to the venue.

Online ADR training is cheaper and more convenient, you donโ€™t need to be good with technology to attend and weโ€™re on hand to guide you through the process.
