If you’re a driver who wants to carry Dangerous Goods in significant quantities, you must obtain an ADR certificate (card). Traxion Training offers top-quality, affordable ADR training courses at venues in Preston and Cambridge. If you have suitable facilities, we can also deliver the course at your company’s premises nationwide!

ADR card

Our ADR training courses are taught by no-nonsense, ex-military instructors who are also experienced ADR drivers and qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers (DGSA’s), ensuring you receive expert instruction and obtain your ADR card first time, whilst also training in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Classroom Training with Live Practicals

Our ADR courses are delivered in a classroom environment and the practical elements are conducted properly, giving you the best chance to pass the exams and get the ticks in the box, but also ensuring that you’re confident in your abilities, as well as finding the courses more enjoyable than just staring at a screen!

Although we have embraced remote training options for certain subjects, Traxion has decided that online training is not suitable for ADR, due to higher failure rates for the exams and drivers missing out on the vital hands-on elements of the course. Many other companies now choose to simulate the practical elements of the course by simply watching videos, we aim to deliver the course properly;

First Aid Training – The emergency first aid element of all of our courses includes live training under the guidance of a certified first aid instructor with the use of  CPR dummies and practice AEDs.

Fire Extinguisher Training – All candidates on our courses participate in live fire extinguisher training, ensuring that they can demonstrate extinguishing a real fire and use an extinguisher safely and effectively.

ADR Course Options

We offer two main ADR training course options, depending on whether you plan to transport Dangerous Goods in packages or tanks:

  1. Core & Packages Course

    • Duration: 3 days + a half-day exam
    • This course qualifies drivers to transport Dangerous Goods that are packaged in anything other than tanks.
    • Upon successful completion, you will receive an ADR certificate that allows you to carry hazardous materials in packages.
  2. Core, Packages & Tanks (Additional 1 Day)

    • Duration: 1 additional day
    • If you wish to transport Dangerous Goods in tanks, this module is required. It provides the necessary training for carrying hazardous materials in tanks, in addition to the Core & Packages qualification.

ADR Training Course Content

All courses begin with the core element. Here you will learn about some of the main provisions of ADR such as how goods need to be packaged and labelled, vehicle marking, equipment to be carried, tunnel restrictions etc. You will also cover some basic first aid and firefighting including the practical elements mentioned above. The course then goes on to cover the various classes of dangerous goods;

classes of dangerous goods

All of our ADR courses cover the 7 main classes of Dangerous Goods, excluding Explosives (Class 1) and Radioactive Materials (Class 7), which require specialist training courses that we do not currently offer. The classes covered in our ADR training include:

  • Class 2 – Gases
  • Class 3 – Flammable Liquids
  • Class 4 – Flammable Solids, Spontaneously Combustible, Dangerous When Wet
  • Class 5 – Oxidising Agents & Organic Peroxides
  • Class 6 – Toxic & Infectious Substances
  • Class 8 – Corrosive Substances
  • Class 9 – Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods

Exams

ADR courses are pass or fail. Drivers must pass a series of multi-choice exam papers at the end of the course.

If you engage in the training, then it’s highly unlikely that you will fail our course. You do need a good understanding of English and this is probably the most common reason for any failures.

If you do fail on the first attempt, then we will give further guidance and a re-sit at the earliest convenience.
