Who the First Aid at Work Course is Suitable for
This 3 day Level 3 Award First Aid at Work (RQF) is accredited by Highfield Qualifications and sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), providing candidates with a regulated qualification from one of the leading awarding bodies.
This 3 day course expands on the topics covered in our one day Emergency First Aid course. It is more suitable for higher risk workplaces, or where successful candidates will take up a role as a lead first aider, supervising a team of Emergency First Aiders. The qualification meets the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements for training first-aiders.
To attend the Emergency First Aid at Work course, candidates must be a minimum of 14 years old and have a level of English suitable to understand the content and undertake a written assessment. They must also be able to partake in practical assessments, including being able to kneel on the floor and administer CPR for at least 2 minutes.
First Aid at Work Course Content
This practical and engaging course is delivered by military veterans with real world experience and covers;
- The role & responsibilities of a first aider
- Assessing an emergency situation safely
- Providing first aid to an unresponsive casualty
- Providing first aid to a casualty who is choking
- Dealing with external bleeding
- Recognising and treating shock
- Dealing with minor injuries
- Conducting a secondary survey
- Injuries to bones, muscles & joints
- Head & spinal injuries
- Chest injuries
- Burns & scalds
- Eye injuries
- Poisoning
- Anaphylaxis
- Major illness
Candidates will be provided with quality handouts to be able to refresh the topics covered.
Assessment
This First Aid at Work course is pass or fail and is assessed by:
- Practical assessment – The practical assessment is completed throughout the course delivery. This ongoing assessment requires learners to demonstrate practical first aid skills.
- Centre-marked multiple-choice theory assessment – Learners are required to pass a 30-question multiple-choice theory paper.
Certificates
Successful candidates will receive a First Aid at Work certificate from Highfield Qualifications, valid for 3 years
